When Something Old is Something New! Limoges Antiques Relocates to Rutland. Date: April 7, 2008 Publication: Sam's Good News
"Limoges Antiques Shop operated in Andover, Massachusetts for 13 years
and has recently relocated to historic downtown Rutland, Vermont.
The new address is 62 Merchants Row. This location is convenient
for the many "antiquers" who shop the Route 4 corridor extending from
New Hampshire to New York as well as those travelling north and south on
U.S. Route 7.
Debby DuBay is the owner of the newly relocated shop. She is a veteran
of the Vietnam and Desert Storm Eras, having served in the U.S. Air
Force. Upon retirement from the military in 1995, she turned her
passion for fine porcelain into her new profession. Debby is a
dedicated collector of Limoges and other European and American
porcelains, which she has collected since 1974. She is a member of
the Appraisers Association of America, and a USPAP (Uniform Standards of
Professional Appraisal Practices) tested appraiser. Debby's
husband Dan Quinn is the new President and CEO of Rutland Mental Health.

Debby happily claims that in only 43 days in Rutland, she has done more
business than in her first year at her old location in Massachusetts.
A lot of her sales have been to out of state customers. She finds
downtown Rutland lovely, not at all dirty old or delapitated. She
feels Rutland is charming with a lot of appeal to a wide range of
demographics. She holds Downtown Partnership Executive Director
Michael Coppinger in the highest regard. Debby said, "If it
wasn't for his intervention, I wouldn't have chosen downtown Rutland.
He is one of the most outstanding people I've met. He even made
sure my sign was hung properly on the front of my store."
The new shop, which offers 3,000 square feet of 19th century Limoges porcelain,
antiques and estate jewelry. Debby's passion is for 18th to 21st
century European and American porcelain. You will also find
fabulous 19th century vitrines, china cabinets, small decorative
furniture pieces, porcelain, and estate jewelry. There is a huge
Peter Rabbit collection as well as music boxes from Schmid Music Boxes.

"Just mention Limoges to Debby DuBay and she's off and running -
rattling off facts, figures and history about the French-made porcelain.
There's good reason for her passion: This week DuBay will open
Limoges Antiques at 62 Merchants Row.
The 3,000-square foot shop (formerly Bella Soul) specializes in
hand-painted decorated antique porcelain including Limoges boxes, vases,
Sevres, Paris porcelain, American Belleek and fine painting on
porcelain."
Limoges Antiques Shop is featured in the Fall 2007 issue of Merrimack Valley Magazine in an article titled: "Main Street Andover". "Downtown Andover is more than just Main Street! The real charm of downtown Andover, writes the author, can be found on foot on Post Office Avenue, a tiny private way around the corner from Elm Square and home to such treasures as Limoges Antiques (Shop). Named for a type of porcelain produced in France, Limoges Antiques (Shop) thrives under the dedicated watch of owner Debby DuBay who turned her passion into a profession and has been sharing her love of antqiue porcelain since 1995. DuBay invites everyone to visit her porcelain paradise Thur, Frid,
& Sat 11-4."
Henry Berry,
book Reviewer says this about Debby DuBay's Antique Trader Limoges Price
Guide : "Two hundred and forty pages of color photographs illustrate why the Limoges porcelain has been a favorite of collectors for more than two centuries. The many kinds of Limoges pieces are grouped in their own chapters--brooches, charges, cider pitchers, fish sets inkwells, punch bowls, and others; for thirty chapters in all. Many readers will be surprised at the great variety of Limoges pieces. There is wide decorative variety within each type too. Although each piece is distinguished by detail and rich coloration. Captions for each piece include identification, a note on the coloration (mostly underglaze or overglaze), factory marking, and in most cases a current value. The 26-page appendix Limoges Factory Markings or Backstamps groups hundreds by periods of years with pictures of each one. The author Debby Dubay is a widely recognized expert on Limoges porcelain who has written previous studies and price guides."
North Shore Living Magazine has declared Debby DuBay as the most "intriguing" Individual: Andover. "Walking into Limoges Antiques Shop on a quiet street in downtown Andover is like entering an antique shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans - absolutely strikingly intoxicating. Every inch of usable space is adorned with gorgeous, highly decorative, hand painted Limoges porcelain. There are rose covered vases, cherubic candelabra, fruited punch bowls, floral frames, high Victorian place settings, charming buttons and brooches, bangles and more. It is a veritable feast for lovers of Victoriana and one-of-a-kind objects of art. The only star shining brighter than the stunning antiques on Post Office Avenue is shop owner, author, collector, expert: Debby DuBay. A retired Air Force officer, and a woman who set the standards for women in the military she was "patriotic when being patriotic wasn't cool!" .........
